Come On Milan: Its Not Like You Were Playing Him!

October 19, 2009

So now AC Milan wants to sue the US Soccer Federation for Oguchi Onyewu’s knee injury picked up in the USA’s 2-2 draw with Costa Rica. It now looks like he won’t be recovered and match fit for at least six months.

Well gee Milan, since you’ve barely used him since bringing him to the team, was there some secret plan to start actually letting him play that we didn’t know about?

How Can 30 GOP Senators Vote Against Franken Rape Amendment?

October 19, 2009

Watch Jon Stewart skewer the senators who voted against the Franken Rape Amendment;

“I guess it’s an efficiency thing. You don’t want to waste tax-payer money giving it to someone who advises fake prostitutes how to commit imaginary crimes (like ACORN), you want to give it to Halliburton because they’re committing real gang rape.”

For Those Who Say Obama Never Reached Out To The GOP

October 5, 2009

Do you remember now?

And should anyone then be surprised by how the health care debate has devolved into such acrimony?

So Much For "Country First"

October 3, 2009

While we never really had a chance to land the 2016 Olympics in Chicago (since we just had the 2002 Winter Games and South America has never held one), its astonishing to see how giddy the conservatives are that the Windy City was the first one voted out.

Whatever happened to that slogan from the McCain campaign; Country First?

Check out how this group, Americans For Prosperity (one of the main organizing groups behind the tea party protests) reacted to the news that Chicago was out of the running:

Is it just me or does it seem that a certain group of Americans only loves this country when they are in control of it?

You Call This News?

October 2, 2009

Gotta love some of the headlines these days which tell us things we already know:

“Eating Twinkies All Day Makes Kids Fat”

“Texting While Driving Can Increase The Chance of Auto Accidents”

and now this one:

“Political scientists report drop in US world standing”

The Coalfield Uprising

October 2, 2009

Nice article in The Nation from Jeff Biggers on the fight against mountaintop removal.

“When the Environmental Protection Agency declared this year on September 11 that all pending mountaintop removal mining permits in four Appalachian states stood in violation of the Clean Water Act and required further review, Lora Webb didn’t have time to join in any celebrations. As she and her husband, Steve, a coal miner, packed up their possessions and left his family’s ancestral property outside Lindytown, West Virginia, Lora was more concerned about finding a place to sleep that night….”
